Text description provided by the architects. The owner of the building is a graphic design manager at a cigarette company in Surabaya. The architects chose to incorporate some of these visual ideas within the design of the building.
The interior spaces are focused on the family. The central core is the heart of the families’ activities, with the more public spaces having visual separation providing more privacy for the family.
The owners wanted to incorporate a tropical concept into the design of this house. These ideas can be seen in the shape of the roof, reflecting a sandbar shape, and the site location of the house. The situation of the home within its plot allows for consistent wind flow that provides natural ventilation.
The design provided side openings that allow light, mainly in the morning, to illuminate the spaces. The front facade has a variety of materials. The contrasting colors of material offset vertical iron slats with the use of natural stone rocks, complement one another..
